This high-energy interval training class combines athletic aerobic movements with strength and stabilzation excercises. Dynamic instructors and powerful music motivate everyone towards their fitness goals – from weekend athlete to the hard-core comeptitor!

Our evening HIT classes are an hour.
  • What equipment, if any, do you need for class?

For H.I.T class, just bring a water bottle…because you’ll need it! : ) All the equipment we use is provided in the exercise studio.

  • Do you have to be at a specific fitness level to take the class?

H.I.T class is challenging and fast paced. There are modifications to most exercises, but this class is best suited for the beginner/intermediate/advanced fitness enthusiast!

  • What is the biggest fitness benefit gained from this class?

H.I.T class will whip your butt into shape…quick! I know it’s helped many participants become stronger and slimmer! It’s a heart pumping class that will improve your aerobic capacity, keep your metabolism going strong hours after class, and sculpt sexy muscles…ha!

  • What is the hardest aspect of this class?

The biggest challenge of this class is that its fast paced and non stop. You can always take water breaks and slow your speed as needed, but the class wont wait for you!

  • Why do you recommend this class as a fitness workout?

This class is a mix of high intensity, athletic style moves that both men and women find challenging and effective! This is a great workout for the athlete who wants to get (or stay) in “game shape”. This is also great for the person who doesn’t like doing “just cardio”, or “just weights”! You get the best of both! I have a “bride to be” who started taking class as well….its gonna make her look fit and extra beautiful on the big day!

  • What are the pros of this class?

I think I’ve mentioned most of the pros above for HIT, as well. It’s just a kick a** class, ya gotta try it!

  • In your opinion, does this class have any cons?

Cons for HIT? I can’t think of any, really! If you haven’t worked out or broken a sweat in quite some time, then this class could be dangerous. The moves are challenging, and will leave your muscles fatigued and a little sore the next day!

  • If you have any specific injuries should you not take this class?

HIT class wouldn’t be good for someone who is just returning to the gym after an injury or surgery. You can always adjust your range of motion, and intensity, but given its fast paced, and upbeat tempo, this could be tough!

  • How often should someone adjust their weight levels/resistance levels/speeds levels (if applicable) in this class?

The H.I.T routines are never the same either, but you’ll see many of the same exercises. So, if the weight that used to be tough, is now pretty easy, its time to up the weight!

  • If continuing the class on a regular basis, how long is expected until progress and results can be seen?

Take H.I.T 2 or 3x/wk for 1 month (along with a healthy diet) and you’ll see results in no time!!

  • If you rotate this class with one other fitness class in your workout schedule, which other class would you recommend?

I really can’t recommend just one class in addition to H.I.T. I’d suggest adding a martial art class or Spinning, Group Power, Yoga, Pilates, Zumba or even a Deep Water Class into the mix! So for example, a good week at the gym might consist of HIT, Treading, Group Power, Spin, Zumba and Yoga or Pilate’s (each on a different day).

Our young people are taught that through dedication and hard work, all worthwhile goals in life are possible. It’s an age-old message but is often forgotten these days. Parents have attributed our programme with improved grades at school as a direct result of the increased achievement, motivation, self direction, and self-confidence provided by the programme. Parents also gain their own increased self confidence and self defence skills. The benefit of knowing how to ensure your safety in any given situation gives you a sense of control and empowerment over everything you do in your daily life. Your children will see this increased confidence in you and this will help then feel more confident and secure themselves as a result.

Goal Setting:

It is important for each child to learn to set short-term, intermediate, and long-term goals. At Taekwondo Alliance every child’s goal is the Black Belt, a symbol of excellence in martial arts and an important tool for instructors and parents to use for developing desire, tenacity, and for teaching the importance of follow-through in any activity.

Emphasis On Schoolwork:

All young people in the programme are encouraged to excel at school through the implementation of our self improvement record system. This helps support our focus on academic excellence as well as contribute to the family and the community.

Taekwondo Alliance instructors work hand-in-hand with school teachers and parents to ensure a well-balanced and focused development process for each child.

Proper Use of Skills:

It is constantly stressed to all students that we require them never to be abusive or offensive and that the martial arts are only for use defensively.

We promote non-violent resolutions to conflict, helping children and adults understand conflict through role-play.

Our younger students are treated with the same respect as adults and are taught to return that respect to others.

 ” The Way To A Black Belt ”

To everyone a black belt represents perseverance. Becoming a white belt takes courage but in order to reach black belt, one has to refuse the temptation to quit and take the easy way out. Becoming a black belt is special. This reward makes all of the hard work worth it.  At Taekwondo Alliance we hold monthly Black Belt training which is open to all our high grades and Black Belts.  These classes help everyone set goals, help them improve and focus on their techniques.

So what make this class so different, you may ask?

Our Black Belt class will give all Black Belts access to the in-depth knowledge through Master Kirkwood, as well as our newly appointed Technical Director GM Hopwood, who is also our Senior Testing Examiner, here in the UK.  Master Kirkwood has a vast knowledge of the curriculum, as well as sparring, patterns, self defence, one-step and grappling.  By participating in this class you will find your training skill, knowledge, fitness and all manners of your training vastly improve.  You will find your overall fitness elevated to a new level, your grasp of the Taekwondo Alliance curriculum more in-depth and your ability to perform and execute those moves flawless.

Being a Black belt is a new beginning, not the end. All our students continue working on and reaching higher levels within Taekwondo. The aim is to becoming a higher degree of black belt.

All our Black Belts and high grades are faithful and strive to being the best in everything they do. This is a very important step in achieving the main goal of being the best person you can be. Endeavor is similar to being faithful. No matter what somebody is doing doing, they should try their hardest to succeed. Doing anything short of one’s best is cheating themselves. One must try their best, to be the best that they can so they can seek the perfection of character.

CLASSES HELD AT HQ WEEKLY and are part of your monthly membership.  Special Black Belt classes are hosted prior to all Black Belt testing and these dates/times and location are given out in class.




”It’s Time To Start Early ”

The Taekwondo Alliance hold Squad training every month. This is a 2 hour intense training class that will give you an overall cardio and plyometric workout like no other! Each class changes, and you will find yourself undertaking a warm up, cardio workout, plyometrics, sparring, competition-sparring, combinations, drills, running and sprinting! This workout is hard core and gives you a whole body workout, that will leave you pumped, exhilarated and raring for more!

This class is ideal for all students wishing to learn point sparring and cont-sparring techniques, wither it is for competitions or to develop skills for class sparring.

These classse are open to Taekwondo Alliance members and non-members. Payment is made on entering the class directly to Master John Kirkwood, who will put you through your paces.  This class is optional, however for those wishing to compete under the Taekwondo Alliance National Squad banner, then it is compulsory. Students also attend additional classes under the direction of Master Kirkwood to achieve team building and sparring!

Start Early

Start training early and start competing early.   Tournament experience counts for a lot when it comes to winning championships. The more you compete, the more likely you are to have faced different opponents. Those opponents will have brought along different scenarios. When those situations arise again, the experienced competitor is better equipped to face them. Every time the competitor lost, they gained more knowledge to improve their game. Every time the competitor won, they secure more confidence they will take forward into future bouts. Confidence helps calm the nerves that sometimes come with competing.

A calm and confident competitor will be more focused and comfortable, this is what we aim for at Taekwondo Alliance!  Our students are focused and make better plays, and score more, making them more successful in competition over the long run.   If a student within our schools has competition aspirations, we like them to get involved as early as possible.

All Martial arts tournaments often have events for novice competitors. These are a great way to develop you as a competitor, either using your fighter’s skill in the ring, or practice your kata/patterns.

Novice divisions will usually only have a handful of entrants. Fewer people in the event means you have a fighting chance to get that well earned expereince!  Whilst winning isn’t the be all and end all, if you do well, you could be onto your first ever win!!  Let us help you to get you started early……giving you a foundation to build on over the next few years.

Private Tuition”

Without a doubt all students rapidly improve their martial arts abilities and knowledge with private tuition. One on one lessons working on any area of Taekwondo you choose, from technique to self-defence to fitness to advanced kicks. Private lessons are usually one hour long but can be a length of time to fit in with your schedule.

Back To Basics – focus on correcting and sharpening technique

Power – fine tune body mechanics to increase the power in your technique

Advanced kicking and punching

Self defence – learn new skills, improve old skills
